进入八月，这几天回落的气温丝毫没有降低开学的热情。8月4日新生夏令营报到之后，上海诺美学校升学指导办的新学年工作也如火如荼地拉开了序幕。
The relatively mild temperature in the beginning of August has helped to burst our enthusiasm for the opening of a new school year. After all our freshmen arrived on August 4, the prosperous season started with a full package of activities arranged by CCO.

8月5日，前芝加哥大学招生官Maura Connors女士应邀来到上海诺美学校，为我校学生和家长开展专题升学指导讲座。Connors女士就“如何在中国申请人中脱颖而出”这一主题进行了深入分析，讲解了招生官是如何评估和筛选申请者的，并在此基础上从课业成绩、课外活动和背景提升上给出了建议。Connors女士在专业选择上提出了规避热门而竞争激烈的专业这一申请技巧。同时，她就文书写作做了特别的强调，“要写出自己的故事”，她说。的确，一个真实感人的故事让招生官眼前出现一个形象生动的你，比起平淡如水的陈述，出色的文书一定是锦上添花，甚至可以扭转乾坤。
On August 5, Ms. Maura Connors, former admissions officer at the University of Chicago, was invited to Nais to provide a lecture on university guidance for our students and parents. Ms. Connors made an in-depth analysis of how to “standing out in the Chinese applicant pool". She explained how the admissions officers assessed and screened applicants, and then gave suggestions on how to strengthen your background by improving academic performance as well as extracurricular activities. Ms. Connors also put forward application skill such as avoiding popular and competitive majors. By the end of the lecture, she made a special emphasis on writing essays, "build and develop your own interesting stories," she said. Indeed, an authentic and touching story helps to bring a vivid image of you to the admissions officers. Excellent essays add icing on the cake and may sometimes even turn the tide around.
讲座结束后，Connors女士在图书馆接受了一对一咨询。部分11年级和12年级学生和家长参加了一对一辅导，就自身的申请问题进行了咨询，并得到了针对性的指导，为进入激烈的申请季做好了更充分的准备。
After the lecture, Ms. Connors also offered face-to-face counseling in our library. Students and parents from Grade 11 and 12 participated and asked questions concerning their specific application problems. All of them received useful guidance, which would help them to make better preparations for the intense application procedures.

8月6日，升导办老师为高中新生带来了第一节升学指导课。主讲老师为同学们做了从9年级至12年级贯穿整个高中生涯的学业规划，从标化考试、高中GPA、课外活动等方面让同学们清晰地认识到“早规划，早执行，早申请”的“赢家策略”。“志存高远，脚踏实地“的校训不是一句口号，实现美好的梦想，成就理想的人生，始于缜密的规划、耐心的指导和坚韧的执行。
On August 6, teachers of CCO brought the first university guidance lectures to the high school freshmen. The lecturer provided academic planning covering the four-year high school study by analyzing all the aspects including standardized exams, high school GPA, and extracurricular activities. We would like to make sure that all our students could clearly realize the "winner’s strategy" of "planning earlier, starting small, and acting fast". We look forward to helping them achieve their dream schools by providing in-time guidance and counselling in the next four years.
8月8日，升导办同样为初中六年级新生开展了升学指导课程。不同于高中学生，老师们针对初中新生年龄较小的特点，从孩子们喜欢的电影和卡通形象出发，鼓励孩子们成为自己心目中勇敢、乐观、勇于接受挑战和尝试新生活的人。通过活泼的互动，让孩子们感受到人生要树立目标，并勇于为了实现目标而改变自己，“总有一天，我们会为你们感到自豪“。诺美带给孩子们的不仅是学业的成功，更是更高的人生标杆和为之奋斗的精神和情怀。
On August 8, we also carried out a guidance course for junior school freshmen. Teachers of CCO talked with children from Grade 6 on their favorite movies and cartons to encourage them to be brave, optimistic, courageous to accept challenges and try new lives. Through lively on-class interaction, children now understand that by entering an international school, they will experience different lives and need to set goals to motivate themselves. “Work hard, play hard” is the golden rule here and they should always strive to learn new things at Nais. "We will be proud of you one day."
骄阳似火的季节迎来了热情洋溢的新开端。新的学年我们已准备好播种新的希望，成就新的成果！诺美学校为学生的升学规划全年不间断。
The beginning of a new school year is just as encouraging as that of January 1st. We make new resolution with new hopes and look forward to accomplishing new achievements!
