- D Sun(ICSE
WAIS Summer School 2019’s business curriculum is academically anchored in IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) & IAL (International Advanced Level) business syllabus. Both IGCSE & IAL are English language-based examinations similar to GCSE & AL and are recognized in the UK, EU, USA & Commonwealth countries as being equivalent to the GCSE for the purposes of recognizing prior attainment.
WAIS Summer School business curriculum develops attendees' understanding of business activity in the public and private sectors, and the importance of innovation and change. Classroom lectures, games and debates, we add a crucial international dimension to our attendees’ thinking. For instance, these factors were debated thoroughly during an IGCSE case-based session ‘Why Home Depot failed in China (CNBC, 14th Jun 2019)’.
Attendees learn how the major types of business organizations are established, financed and run, and how their activities are regulated. Factors influencing business decision-making are also considered, as are the essential values of cooperation and interdependence. To illustrate, how government polices affect business were explored in detailed during an IAL case-based session ‘It’s not just Huawei. Trump’s new tech sector order could ripple through global supply chains (The Washington Post, 18th May 2019).’
WAIS business curriculum staunchly supports the view that field trips are beneficial because trips allow attendees to see how what they are learning is applied in the real world. For example, our HHC Factory Visit on 17th July 2019 and our upcoming visit to CZ Silicon Electronics (常州硅密电子) on 21st August 2019. Vitally, field trips give our attendees an opportunity to learn outside the classroom, which also help keep the classroom routine from getting monotonous.
Through the intensive 6 weeks of summer school, WAIS business attendees not only learn about business concepts and techniques but also enhance related skills such as numeracy and examination techniques and requirements. In this regard, business games, debates and weekly business’ internal assessment are key components in preparing our summer school attendees for their upcoming academic year.
As such, WAIS Summer School’s business curriculum provides not just a firm business foundation for further study at A Level, undergraduate level, ideal preparation for the world of work, but more vitally, a supportive conduit for each attendee to maximize his/ her potentials. For instance:
- E. Gu (IGCSE Group 3), the top scorer for Week 2 Business Internal Assessment is of the view that he has learnt a lot from WAIS Summer School Business program.
- D. Sun (IGCSE Group 2), one of the top scorers for Week 1 & 2 Business Internal Assessment feels that WAIS Summer School Business program is one the very best in its league.
- S. Bao (IAL) was praised by the Chairman of HHC Corporation Ltd for her sharp observations and questions. S Bao was even offered an HHC internship directly by the Chairman!
- BW. Liu (IGCSE Group 1) in the presence of his supportive family members (Mother, Grandfather, two Uncles & younger brother) and his Business Teacher A. Rao, made an emotional pledge to improve himself academically by going the extra mile and giving nothing but his very best.
A business education is a valuable investment in a youth’s future. And, the right learning experience returns value in ways that go well beyond the monetary. Choose WAIS business curriculum today!
