In late October, WAIS’s first group of ABRSM theory candidates sat their exams in Shanghai and the results that have just been released are truly exceptional.
Once again, we have 100% pass rate with over 70% of the cohort achieving merit (over 80/100) or distinction (over 90/100). The overall average of this cohort is an outstanding 85%. What is even more remarkable is the fact that two pupils have received a perfect score of 100/100 – including A. Qiu’s (Pre A) Grade 5 exam. This means some WAIS pupils can start collecting valuable UCAS points in their next practical exam.
It is also important to remember that pupils can earn more UCAS points by passing Grades 6-8 theory exams and we will encourage these musicians to continue with their theory quest. WAIS musicians are not only good instrumentalists but they also understand the music they play. Many congratulations to all the theorists for their terrific achievement. Their hard work has certainly paid off!
