Good morning. I am Ella from pre1b. Now I am going to talk about how self-control influences your school life. It exerts impact on not only our mental health but also physical health.

First of all, I want to mention one thing which is eating habit. Some students in our school are a little bit overweight or underweight. One of the main reasons to cause that problem is they don’t have good eating habits. They ate junk food and fast food sometimes and did not exercise regularly. There is a concession stand in our school, right beside the canteen. Every day, during the break, I could always see a long line in front of it full of students who would like to purchase new snacks, such as double-eggs ice cream and bubble-tea ice cream. And they really taste good from my point of view. However, I have to use my self-control against lure, because they pose a threat on my health. For one thing, it’s high in sugar, protein and rich in flavor. Eating more is easy to gain weight and the fat is easy to accumulate on the stomach, forming a wide body shape. For another, the fatty acids contained in the creamer are easy to cause coronary heart disease. The trans fatty acid content in a 500 ml pearl milk tea per day is beyond the limits of normal human body.

Secondly, there is a relationship between self-control and mental health. Practice has shown that people learn to control themselves by learning to be self-reliant. The sooner you take care of yourself, the better your mental quality. According to the latest research by American psychologists, children with strong self-control have a semester score of about 20% higher than that of the same IQ in the middle and high school.

On the whole, it’s would be wonderful if you could control your behavior. You’d avoid over-eating, all bad habits, procrastination, being late, buying stuff that you don’t need behaving in a bad manner. You would also avoid not losing school papers and homework, rushing at the last minute, and avoid detention. Instead, you’d have good health, a beautifully exercised body, excellent work habits, an organized life, success, good behavior, good mental health, healthy attitudes. I think you would enjoy life so much better. Therefore, self-control is very important.
