Huster、C. Guo、G.
EPQ is the shorthand for the Extended Project Qualification, which helps pupil to improve their academic writing, organizing, and researching skills by debating, investigating, crafting, performing and doing research. But more importantly, in the EPQ we must refer to other’s ideas which could help us to learn “to stand on the shoulder of giants” and participate in the global knowledge sharing community.
At Wycombe Abbey International School we believe that the EPQ allows all pupils to prepare fully for life at university. We are sure that the academic skills and independence required are of vital importance to educational development and this is why our Sixth Form complete EPQs in their final two years at our school.
From 2017 to 2018, our year 13s have produced a variety of EPQs of different subjects ranging from the origin of tattooing to the lethality of parasites which offer many interesting and outstanding ideas and arguments. Long hours of research and hard work have gone in to these projects, providing well rounded views on many controversial issues in today’s society.
The purpose of this journal is to introduce and summarise these EPQs, to give out an overview, and help others to understand them well, as a result, this journal contains summary articles that intended to summarize these EPQs by G. Huster, C. Guo, G. Yu and J. Zhang. From the articles, parts of abstract, introduction, literature review, development, conclusion and evaluation from each EPQ have been summarised into brief and precise language and the point of important ideas have been elucidated.
We hope this journal will become part of the fabric of WAIS’s outstanding academic achievement. We are delighted with another wonderful year of EPQ work that will support our current and future Year 13s in their applications to university, future study and future career prospects.
