Last Saturday, 35 pupils and 3 teachers from Wycombe Abbey International School attended the annual sponsored walk for trees. Pupils collected money from teachers and pupils to donate to the International Tree Foundation and we managed to raise over 5000 RMB. In return, we walked about 10km around West Tai Lake. pupils had anticipated this walk for a long time, so pupils were eager to start walking.
It was a sunny afternoon, we set off at 1pm and arrived at the Star G Observation Tower about an hour later. On the way, pupils shared conversations about future aspirations as well as about school life. When we arrived at the tower, we took an elevator to the 19th floor and admired the view from above in a serene environment; we could even spot our own school, WAIS in the distance as well as the beauty of Changzhou. We were able to order food and drinks to reward ourselves after a long term of hard work. A wide range of choices were offered including deserts, refreshments, pizza and more. pupils were glad to have a chance to relax before End of Year examinations that would take place the following week and raise money for trees. After a relaxing afternoon, we headed back to school to review for our End of Year Examinations.
We would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Star G Observation Tower for arranging this trip and a big thank you to everyone who donated money to the Wycombe Abbey International School’s Environmental Club. Special thanks to Mr Hamilton who organized this trip and Ms Goyes and Ms Kayayan for supervising this trip.
The trees would like to thank you for their new companions :)
