Many outstanding students graduate from SUIS-Gubei every year. This year is no exception. Here we have specially interviewed 11 of them and let them share their own experiences & ideas with you.

协和古北每年都会涌现一批学有所成又各有所长的优秀毕业生，今年亦不例外。在此我们特意采访了其中11位具有代表性的学生，让他们与各位同学、家长分享各自的经历与心得。

Your most memorable stories or moment(s) at SUIS-Gubei.

在协和古北就读期间，你最为难忘的经历是什么？

In an odd situation, I was in a classroom with my Math teacher in G11 and  my film teacher in pre-IB. There were only the three of us, and we had the most amazing conversation about math and art. I was embarrassed because the conversation was made all about me and my studies at the end, but I was grateful for the interest, patience, and enthusiasm they showed when they listened to what I wanted to say.

机缘巧合，某次我和我的两位老师同处一间教室。我们就数学和艺术进行了颇为有趣的交流，还就我个人和我的学习情况进行了探讨。虽然有些不好意思，但我发自内心感谢他们耐心倾听我的诉说以及在对话期间表现出的专注与热情。

What is your favorite subject and why?

你最喜欢的科目是什么？

Visual Arts.

For me, it is a very process-oriented subject, unlike the others. It offers me not only the skills I need to understand and produce art, but also the freedom to study and investigate the things that I care about the most. I see it as the center of my IB diploma, where I bring different subjects together, combine ideas, and explore what I want to create.

视觉艺术。

在我看来，视觉艺术不同于其他科目，这是一门面向过程的学科。它不仅赋予我理解、创作艺术所需的技能，还为我构建了学习探索事物的自由。这是非常重要的一点。我觉得它是我学习IB课程的核心，通过这门课，我得以把不同学科整合成一体，集思广益融会贯通，最终获得我真正想要的。

Have you overcome any challenges in your school life that you are proud of?

求学过程中你有遇到过什么挑战吗？你如何克服它的？

For my Exhibition component in visual arts, I wanted to make an installation that occupies over 1 square meter and needs to be hung from above. I needed to think about what materials to use, how to display it, and how to transport it, etc. Even though I was unsure how the result would look, I found a way to complete it, and I was really proud of the installation piece.

举办视觉艺术展的时候，我想制作一个悬挂在天花板上的，占地超过1平方米的装置艺术。我需要思考使用何种材料，如何展示，如何运输等细节问题。尽管整个过程充满不确定性，但最终我还是完成了这件作品并进行了展出。我为此感到十分自豪。

What helped you get admitted to your school, both on and off campus?

能从校内、校外两方面阐述下你是如何提升自我，最终斩获理想学校录取通知书的？

The support from my teachers at SUIS-Gubei and my parents.

协和古北的老师们和我的父母给予了我莫大的支持与帮助。

Describe your thought process when making decision on your destination university. How did you decide which one to go for?

描述一下你选择目标大学时的思考过程。你又是如何决定最终去往哪一所院校的？

I applied for both UK and US universities, but I committed to USC because the program I applied to is a STEM program, and I can get a B.Arch degree once I finish the five years of studies. The weather is also really good there, and it might help me with the stress in academics.

我是英美双申，最终选择了南加州大学。我申请的STEM项目，完成五年学习后就可以获得建筑学学士学位。那里的气候也很好，这有助于缓解我的学业压力。

What do you think made you stand out in the admission process?

你认为是什么让你在申请大学的录取过程中脱颖而出？

One of the universities told me that they really liked one of the works in my portfolio and my explanation for its inspiration in the writing supplement. I think my portfolio and essays made me stand out because they presented me and my personal aspirations to the universities.

我收到几份录取通知，其中一所大学告诉我他们发自内心欣赏我的某一件作品以及我对它的阐述与诠释。我认为是自己的作品集和文书让我在大学申请中脱颖而出，它们体现了我的独特风采以及我对大学的个人抱负。

What are you most looking forward to about college?

你对大学生活有什么期待？

Studying my major, meeting new people, and adjusting to a new lifestyle.

钻研主修专业，结交新朋友，适应全新的生活方式。

What advice would you like to give to our lower grade students on the preparation of future study?

你对我们低年级的学生在学业方面有什么建议？

While focusing on academics, try to make yourself a more rounded person. Keep exploring time management and learning skills that suit you, build relationships with friends and family, and think about what you want to become in the future.

钻研学术的同时努力使自己成为一个更全面的人；找到适合自己的时间管理方式和学习技巧；与家人、朋友建立良性友好的关系。认真思考你将来想要成为什么样的人。
